Kitchy Kitchy Ky Yi Yay

We are finally painting the oak kitchen cabinets. The paint is by Porter and it is called Breakthrough. The color is called Ticker Tape. Craig hung the doors to get an idea of how they will look. Don't you just love the two-tone look?

Now, What Does One Get For a 10 Year Anniversary?

Today is my anniversary. It's a big one; 10 years. But not of marriage. This anniversary celebrates 10 years of living in the South. 7 of them have been in Georgia and the other 3 in Alabama. So, hats off as I toast a decade of very un-Utah-like foods such as grits, fried pickles, pimiento cheese sandwiches, BBQ, iced tea, homemade mac'n'cheese, fried okra, green beans with fatback, dumplings at Thanksgiving, as well as very un-Utah-like words like fixin', y'all, tote, mash, shoe strings, ma'am, and using the word Miss or Mr. in front of every body's first name.

 The South is where I want to be. I love wearing flip flops year round, don't miss the snow one iota, and I adore having 4 distinct seasons. Now, I am not dissing on my home-state of Utah; I love love love the Wasatch mountains and the canyons and being near my family, but this is where I belong, where I long to be. Here, I have the Blue Ridge and the Smokey Mountains and if I get a hankerin', the ocean is not too far away either. Here in the South is where my 2 most favorite men in the whole world were born. Cheers to my Georgia baby and to my Alabama baby. I Love You Guys More Than Anything!!!

Tooth Fairy Redux

Found really inexpensive European shams at BB&B. Originally $35. a piece. Bought each for $10. and had a $5 off coupon.

Craig replaced the rails and added new corner post.

Two boards had to be completely replaced.

New rail and post on other side of deck. After pollen goes away, deck will be re-stained.

The Blind Leading the Blind

We've done a few more things to the house. We're changing out all of the hideous white blinds that are a nightmare to clean for nice bamboo coverings.

We purchased a new shower head that is removable and a new matching knob for our master shower. It is awesome.

Craig put up a shelf under his huge TV that holds the boxes.

He plans on hiding the cords eventually.

Craig also put up a deer head in the family room.

We found the color we want to paint our kitchen cabinets. It is called Ticker Tape. We've been practicing on our old bathroom cabinets. After painting we plan to glaze them.

Craig hung a TV for my in the exercise room so I can watch it while I walk/run on my treadmill. My parents also bought me a mini-trampoline as an early b-day gift. The boys love to jump on it.

The boys are playing tennis twice a week. Chase recently participated in his first match ever. The kids played doubles and Coach Betsy helped them learn as they played. Both boys are doing well. They are very athletic and are enjoying themselves.

GREENBERG

 

I am very happy and excited to announce that I traded my '10 Honda Odyssey for a new '12 Honda CR-V. I used to own an '04 CR-V and could not be happier to own one again. My car is green but appears blue in certain light. I LOVE IT! We name all of our vehicles and so Mom, I'm naming my car the "Greenberg."

 LITTLE PROJECTS:

I bought some silver spoons to make a 'T' for Taylor.

This is also a silver spoon. I sanded the edges of the frame but it is hard to tell. I'm going to hang this on the side of the kitchen cabinet along with a cute little lantern.

I had this little U.S. flag floating around and I found this cute little frame to put it in.

This is the best project of all. My mother had this mirror frame made for me from barnwood. The mirror broke and so Craig put some aluminum sheeting behind it so I can put pictures up with magnets. I love it because I can change out pictures easily and no more frames needed. Now I just need lots of cute magnets.

I have some more projects in the works. The house is not finished yet, I still have a list of things we need to do. All in due time. (I am very happy about the progress so far regardless.) Craig got some new Bose speakers and now has surround sound in the family room.

Two Thumbs Up!

Yesterday my parents, who are here visiting from Utah, Chase, Peyton and I went on a drive to see the North Georgia Blue Ridge mountains. We packed a lunch and when we happened upon a nice area by Lake Chatuge we decided to pull over and make sandwiches.  The boys played with their trucks and threw rocks into the lake. The weather was quite pleasant. We met two nice visitors from the UK there as well. Peyton refused to pose for pictures with us so I snagged this one and as you can see, he was not happy about it. We then drove to Hayesville, NC where we walked around the town square. There was a variety store called Tiger's where we shopped and browsed and ate ice cream. All in all it was a pleasurable day.

Craig finished the guest bathroom just in time for my parents' visit. We found this cute shower curtain with matching hooks. The bathroom is absolutely beautiful and we couldn't be happier about the results. I want to give a big thanks to my hubby Craig and his friends Ray and Reed who worked very hard to help him finish the entire basement.

TILE and OTTO

Craig added some more tiles on the guest shower wall as well as put the knobs on the folding doors that are in the guest bedroom. We bought an ottoman at our favorite furniture store in AL to go with the couch in the family room. (Craig thought it was to be his private man cave but he has another think coming.) The man cave has turned out to be the most popular room in the house. It truly is a family room.

Bombombay

Craig and I purchased a darling Bombay dresser from our favorite furniture store in AL for our basement guest room. My parents are coming in a few weeks and will be the first guests to use the room. We also purchased a lovely L-shaped couch for the family room.

The black bed frame has been placed into the guest room and I finally was able to put my cute comforter and pillows on it.

Craig put up the last Hardie board above the tub and laid out the slate tiles in order to choose the order to put them in. The slate is beautiful and each piece is unique.

A few more things need to be done in the basement, but the rooms are cozy, comfortable and we are thoroughly enjoying using the area.
